The first, key point, is that registration spots are held for IS undergraduate and Masters students who need the course to graduate. That means that while it may look like there are slots available in sections, they aren’t really open. It’s a mirage, don’t be fooled. Whatever you do, don’t try to switch sections by dropping and trying to add another section. You will be locked out.
Second, to date every student who has come to lectures, done the homework, and shown committment has been added to the class. I’m not saying that will be the case this semester, but historically it has been. What doesn’t work is not attending all the lectures in the first few weeks then trying to add. That doesn’t work out well.
Before Tuesday, please review the syllabus. If you have any questions, we’ll cover them in lecture.
None of us know exactly what the semester has in store for us – we live in interesting times. We are committed, though, to making this an enjoyable and exciting class. I do know we’ll cover ideas that will be useful for the rest of your life, however: many of them will be explained only in lectures and sections. Let’s savor the process of learning together as much as possible, while taking care of ourselves and others.
